Annual Meeting

Last June at PCGI's Annual Meeting, the members voted to either merge PCGI with another group or to continue on. The enthusiasm that was displayed during that meeting was very encouraging and the Board of Directors set about launching a new season and engaged a few speakers. Unfortunately that enthusiasm has not translated into increased membership, attendance or volunteerism. The organization is not increasing income and can no longer support activities or expenses to keep it alive.

It is with great sadness that the BOD has voted by a majority to dissolve Plymouth County Genealogists Inc. This is the first legal step in the dissolution process. We will hold the Annual Meeting during the regularly scheduled Gathering on June 3rd and we will ask the membership to vote on this resolution via online vote so that all members have an opportunity to voice their opinion.

All members have the option to join another local genealogical society or a chapter of MSOG. The choice to merge PCGI with another group would have resulted in the dissolution of PCGI in any event.

The BOD has consulted with The Lawyers Clearinghouse and has been notified of a legal firm who is willing to work with the organization. The BOD is awaiting direct contact with this firm to determine the next move(s) in this process.
